NCSA Volunteer Opportunities
Contact NCSA Volunteer Coordinator
Ms. Kim Ferrell if you have any questions.
Parents (and guardians) are a vital part of NCSA and their students’ academic success. Families are required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours each school year. Volunteer hours are per family not per student. These hours do not necessarily need to be completed during school hours; therefore, no student is excluded because of parent work schedules. In addition to the volunteer hours, parents and guardians are expected to ensure their student(s) is/are following SOAR behavior and maintaining above average grades, ultimately strengthening the educational environment.
OF NOTE: For volunteer opportunities done during school hours, your volunteer time begins when you scan in at at the NCSA front office and concludes when you scan out of the NCSA front office.
Please do not bring any children with you for volunteer opportunities at NCSA. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
For more information on NCSA’s volunteer requirements, please review the NCSA Student Handbook at https://ncsa.newtoncountyschools.org/parents/parent_links.
How to sign up for volunteer opportunities
NCSA PTO communicates volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Typically, volunteer opportunities are communicated in the following process:
- Recurring volunteer opportunities, like morning and afternoon duties, will be posted on SignUp.com and can be signed up for weeks in advance through a link found on the NCSA website.
- Volunteer opportunities for planned events (e.g. fall festival, Teacher Tailgate, etc.), will be posted on SignUp.com through a link found on the NCSA website. These opportunities will then be shared on NCSA’s Facebook page and via NCSA PTO's Remind.
- To join Remind, text @Ncsapto to 81010.
- At times, last-minute opportunities will solely be posted on NCSA’s Facebook page. These can be signed up for by following instructions on the post on how to claim your spot.
Tracking volunteer hours
We recommend tracking your volunteer hours personally. When your student’s report card is distributed, you will receive a letter stating the number of volunteer hours accumulated to date. If you have questions about your hours or the volunteer hour requirement as part of the NCSA Parental Commitment Contract, please reach out to NCSA’s Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Kim Ferrell, at ferrell.kim@newton.k12.ga.us.
Recurring volunteer signups
These volunteer opportunities are regularly available throughout the entire school year. Click the link for each recurring volunteer SignUp to learn about each opportunity. If you are unable to make your volunteer commitment, please kindly cancel your slot so that another parent/family member may take your slot.
